I’ve added new behind the scenes photos of Demi Lovato on the set of her photoshoots for her ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine. Also, Cosmo’s official site has updated Demi’s playlist while on the set.

I canceled my plans for the evening and spent the next four hours ninja-ing the perfect soundtrack, thinking about upbeat, urban, dance-y songs with a hint of sexy—just like Demi herself. The next day felt like a party on the set (exhibit A: these photos of her chatting like BFFs with The Boss, Joanna Coles). Demi loved all of my picks and was seen dancing and singing along to everything I put together. Since Demi turns 21 in August and she is our August cover girl, here are 21 must-have’s from that playlist:

  • Adele “Rumour Has It”
  • Beyoncé “Sweet Dreams”
  • Britney Spears “Piece of Me”
  • Bruno Mars “Grenade”
  • Cyndi Lauper “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”
  • David Guetta & Sia “Titanium”
  • Demi Lovato “Made In The USA”
  • Fergie “Glamorous”
  • Jay-Z & Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind”
  • Gwen Stefani & Eve “Rich Girl”
  • Kanye West “Mercy”
  • Jennifer Lopez “Love Don’t Cost A Thing”
  • Justin Timberlake “SexyBack”
  • Katy Perry “Teenage Dream”
  • Kelly Clarkson “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”
  • Madonna “Into The Groove”
  • Mariah Carey “Fantasy”
  • Nicki Minaj “Starships”
  • P!nk “So What”
  • Rihanna “Rude Boy”
  • Salt-n-Pepa “Push it”

After the photoshoot, Demi and I sat down for a quickie interview where we talked about her memories of reading Cosmo for the very first time, relationships, style icons and The X-Factor. When I asked about her fave karaoke songs, she admitted that rapping Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” is her go-to jam…and she gets super-competitive about it. I begged and pleaded and begged some more for Demi to show off her rapping skills, but she refused. But I’m not giving up… Fingers crossed next time around I will end up in a karaoke bar with her and we can rap together. (I’ll Vine it, obvs.)
