This Frozen hit song is under scrutiny

It’s hard to deny that “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen is not only the movie’s most recognizable song, but it holds a special place in the heart of many. Following its successful rendition by Frozen star Idina Menzel and a radio cover by Demi Lovato.

Now, “Let It Go” is back in the headlines but the reason isn’t necessarily as fun as previous mentions. This time around, “Let It Go” is getting attention for being the focus of a lawsuit filed by Chilean musician Jaime Ciero, according to Digital SpyTMZ reports that Disney, Demi Lovato (who recorded the radio version), and Idina Menzel are named in the suit, among others.

According to Digital Spy, Ciero claims that “Let It Go” is a ripoff of his 2008 song “Volar”. He noted to Digital Spy that he believes there are similarities in both of the songs’ structures, melodies, lyrics, themes, and more. Ciero is seeking restitution in the form of a portion of Frozen‘s profits which, to date, total somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.3 billion.
