You know what would be “Cool for the Summer”? If Demi Lovato got engaged.
The 22-year-old singer, who used to maintain a firm “I don’t talk about my relationship” rule, opened up about her beau of five years, Wilmer Valderrama, going so far as to say she’d marry him if he asked.
“I am very, very in love with him,” Lovato gushed on a New Zealand radio show. “I think we will probably wait a little bit longer, but if he asked tomorrow I would say yes.”
Because of their 12-year age gap, Lovato caught some grief when she started dating the That ’70s Show alum — even from her inner circle. That’s why she kept details about their relationship, which started after they met at a Voto Latino event in 2010, quiet at first.
“I used to definitely [catch flak when] we were first starting to date about like five years ago because I was 18 and he was 30,” Lovato admitted. “People were definitely judgmental. Even like my parents were kind of like, ‘I don’t know why someone his age is wanting to date someone so young.’ After a while, everyone started to see that what we have is real and incredible and very special and we have been together ever since.”
When it comes to her wedding party, you can count out former friends Miley “We Have Nothing in Common” Cyrus and Selena “We Grew Apart” Gomez, but there still may be star power. Lovato is going to be a bridesmaid for Iggy Azalea’s upcoming wedding to Los Angeles Lakers player Nick Young, so she may tap the rapper to return the favor.
“I don’t think so,” she said when asked if she’d have to help organize Iggy’s wedding. “She’s pretty chill, so I can’t see her being one of those brides who is super particular.” Demi added that even if she has to wear an ugly dress, “It’s for a day, so I will do whatever she wants.”
With that kind of attitude, it sounds like Demi will be a pretty chill bride herself. And that will be a fun milestone for the singer… whenever it ends up happening.
